Most Bong brides usually prefer a Benarasi saree in the shades of maroon or red.  But they prefer to wear the saree in a different and unique way than the rest of the brides. To get a much clear picture remember the women folks in Devdas and Parineeta. The way they have draped the sarees in the film is quite different from the usual over the shoulder drape.
The quintessential white saree with the deep red border owned by most of the Bengali women is called Korial Lal Paar. It is usually worn during special occasions or festivals, especially during Durga pooja days.  During the Durga pooja days, a visit to West Bengal will be really interesting as you could see thousands of women at the temples attending the festivities wearing this style of saree.
It may resemble that of a Garad sari, but Korial sarees have a deeper hue of red and much stronger colours in it.
Many Bengali women can be seen selecting a Korial saree for their weddings also.
Here is how you could achieve this beautiful look without much difficulty.
Start by tucking in your saree from the area below your navel at the right side of your waist now take a full round your hips and bring it to your left hip. Next, make a single broad box fold and tuck it at the front. The pleat fold should come on the right.
Make sure the pleat is in level with the ground.
Now take the remaining saree and pleat it from both the ends and use cloth clips to clip the pallu. Make clean pleats and drape it over your left shoulder and it should touch the ground.
Arrange the front of the saree that it also touches the ground. Once you have settled the pleats neatly pin it on the shoulder and remove the cloth pins.
Next, pull the right border of your saree over your chest and pin or tuck it at your right hip. Now tie a bunch of ornate keys at the end of the pallu. Bring the key attached pallu to the front and flip it over your right shoulder and arrange your front pleats properly and you are ready to rock this style.
A long or three-fourth-sleeved blouse would look great with this look. As the saree borders are displayed prominently in this draping style try to select a saree with beautiful and elaborate borders.
You can experiment with this style for a wedding or a special family occasion. Accessorise this look with antique gold jewellery and a big red bindi you are ready to rock the look.
