The Venkatagiri sarees made in Andhra Pradesh are woven using fine cotton yarns and have zari borders. Jamdani sarees are from Uttar Pradesh are usually woven in very colourful floral patterns and are also expensive.

The net like cotton sarees originated in the Kota region of Rajasthan and are popular all over the country.

Like the Vichitrapuri sarees, the Chanderis of Madhya Pradesh is also produced in silk-cotton that is by mixing silk and cotton threads. The weaving of Chanderis sarees has been said to be prevalent from the 2nd century itself. They are famous for their natural prints mainly peacocks, florals and opulent embroidery.

Maheshwari cotton sarees are woven with zari or brocade. Maheshwar town in Madhya Pradesh is said to be where these types of sarees originated in the 18th century and hence it got its name from this little town.

According to legends, Queen Ahaliyabai Holkar of Malwa had ordered the weavers of the town to design special 9 yard sarees to gift it to her royal relatives which later came to be known as Maheshwari sarees. The motifs and designs of the Maheshwari sarees are inspired by the grandeur of the forts of Madhya Pradesh.

It is better to give the cotton sarees for dry cleaning for the first wash it would help to protect colours. For later cleaning purposes it can be either hand washes or machine washed using mild detergents.

Innovations are always part of fashion and the latest trend among the cotton saree lovers is the Kalamkari cotton saree. The touch of Kalamkari in the skin and climate friendly cotton sarees make it more special and also makes it attractive. The great designs of Kalamkari when combined with the vibrant colours of cotton sarees adds to its appeal.

The kalalamkari cotton sarees are present in various shades and can be worn for special occasions or for weddings.
