How to look slim in a saree

Saree is without a second thought one of the sexiest attires ever invented for women. No matter how many western trends come to the market saree still has the power to sweep the ladies of their feet.
Sarees are the perfect attires to flaunt your curves while you are fully covered. But do you get any jitters when you think about adorning a saree because of that extra flab?

Oh, don't worry that may be because you are not selecting sarees that suit your body type. You could definitely look slim and hide those flaws if you select the perfect fabric and wear saree in a way that best suit your figure.

A saree get its perfect alluring appeal with the right fabric and perfect drape. Keep these tips in your mind to look slimmer and beautiful in a saree.

While draping your saree please remember to tuck your saree properly at the waist so that it will give your hips the much-needed shape.  Another important step is to make minimum pleats to get the perfect shape. If you are on the heavier side and wear the saree with lots of pleats then it will make you look plump with a heavy bottom and bulging stomachs.

If you can't keep yourself away from the more pleats then it is better to drape them and tuck them at different places than concentrating all the drapes in a single place.

You should also drape the saree tightly around your body as you can as it will give your body a perfect shape don't let it hang loosely around your hips.

If you have a heavier upper body then it is better to wear the pallu loose on your arms than pleating it.

The women who are on the heavier side should avoid buying sarees with big prints.  The large prints would make you look heavier as it will add to your frame. If you can't avoid the prints or the florals then it is better to buy small prints, designs and less embroidery.

Subtle prints in an elegant way will help you attain a slimmer look.

Right colours will also give you a slimmer effect. Dark colours always come to your rescue if you want to look slimmer. Darker colours such as violet, orange or black will create the illusion of weight loss.

Another blunder the large bodied women is selecting sarees with large borders. The broad border will look good on tall slim women that will add more layers to them, but it is a big no for heavy women as we mentioned it will add more layers on you.

So, select sarees that have simple borders and can flow on your figure other than making it heavy.

As mentioned the right drapes of the right fabric will also help you attain the look. Fabrics like silk and stiff cotton sarees will add volume to your frame so it is safe to pick a saree in crepe, georgette, chiffon or satin as they will cling to your frame and give you a much leaner look.

Another important element you should introduce to your fashion choices is to pick a blouse that will go well with your overall look other than make you look huge. A three-fourth sleeve length blouse will make your arms look slimmer.

It is better to avoid draping the saree in a way that it reveals your tummy and midriff as it will expose that tummy that you desperately want to hide.

Most Bong brides usually prefer a Benarasi saree in the shades of maroon or red.  But they prefer to wear the saree in a different and unique way than the rest of the brides. To get a much clear picture remember the women folks in Devdas and Parineeta. The way they have draped the sarees in the film is quite different from the usual over the shoulder drape.
The quintessential white saree with the deep red border owned by most of the Bengali women is called Korial Lal Paar. It is usually worn during special occasions or festivals, especially during Durga pooja days.  During the Durga pooja days, a visit to West Bengal will be really interesting as you could see thousands of women at the temples attending the festivities wearing this style of saree.
It may resemble that of a Garad sari, but Korial sarees have a deeper hue of red and much stronger colours in it.
Many Bengali women can be seen selecting a Korial saree for their weddings also.
Here is how you could achieve this beautiful look without much difficulty.
Start by tucking in your saree from the area below your navel at the right side of your waist now take a full round your hips and bring it to your left hip. Next, make a single broad box fold and tuck it at the front. The pleat fold should come on the right.
Make sure the pleat is in level with the ground.
Now take the remaining saree and pleat it from both the ends and use cloth clips to clip the pallu. Make clean pleats and drape it over your left shoulder and it should touch the ground.
Arrange the front of the saree that it also touches the ground. Once you have settled the pleats neatly pin it on the shoulder and remove the cloth pins.
Next, pull the right border of your saree over your chest and pin or tuck it at your right hip. Now tie a bunch of ornate keys at the end of the pallu. Bring the key attached pallu to the front and flip it over your right shoulder and arrange your front pleats properly and you are ready to rock this style.
A long or three-fourth-sleeved blouse would look great with this look. As the saree borders are displayed prominently in this draping style try to select a saree with beautiful and elaborate borders.
You can experiment with this style for a wedding or a special family occasion. Accessorise this look with antique gold jewellery and a big red bindi you are ready to rock the look.
